A Road Once Traveled
by Aaron Terry
I find myself staring at a road that I've been down once before
And I wonder where it leads this time; what future it holds in store.
For the last time I traveled this path it led not to happiness and bliss,
But disappointment and despair; dark feelings which took long to dismiss.
As I contemplate this journey, I try to sort through my expectations.
Does it wind through doubt and confusion and not to my desired destination?
While this stretch may be different, its twists and turns will never be known
Unless it I do pursue; and only then will the outcome be shown.
But deep down in my heart, I know that this journey is one I must endure
Because I've foreseen the potential and my happiness lies there within I'm sure.
For the feelings that I have now I haven't known for quite some time,
And to abandon those takes something inside myself which I simply cannot find.
Believe me that it can be conquered once the challenge I begin
For this tale's covers have barely opened and has many chapters before it ends.
The fuel of my heart's desire shall propel me on as my voyage unfolds
And should it lead to that precious place then its sweetness shall soothe my soul.
