For Brothers Are We
by Aaron Terry

For brothers are we, and brotherly we shall surely remain,
And should you ask me what I mean by this
Then I'll respond to you with just the same.
For we're like two equally-yoked great oxen
Toiling tirelessly through life side-by-side;
What's my work is his, and his to me likewise.
Sharing struggles and triumphs, paced by the same stride.
This is merely a glimpse of the brotherhood that I speak
… But yet and still you ask why.

For simply brothers are we, surely this you must understand.
Comprehend not because perhaps
You lack that brother who guides you by the hand.
The one to whom your duty is to support,
And he which upon you are called to lean.
Believe when I tell you that the experience is great
And oh what a sense of satisfaction it brings.
For he opens my eyes to clear vision, and it is me that helps him see.
Yes I am one with my brother's accord, and he is but an extension of me.
